1. Auto-assign to Folders

Use Auto-assign to Folders if you want new conversations automatically placed in relevant folders based on their content.

Auto-assign to Folders is an optional user preference that automatically organizes new conversations. Turn it on if you want automatic organization, or turn it off if you prefer to manually place conversations in folders—it depends on your needs and workflow.

Note that folders and the Unassigned folder are only visible when you choose "Folders View" in your preferences—you can switch between "Chronological View" and "Folders View" based on how you prefer to see your conversations.

The feature works alongside the auto-generated titles feature. After a new conversation receives its AI-generated title, a smart algorithm analyzes the title and content to determine which folder best matches the conversation. The chat is then automatically moved to that folder. For example, a conversation titled "React Component Best Practices" would be assigned to your "Frontend Development" folder, while "Q4 Marketing Strategy" would go to "Marketing Projects."

Enable or disable auto-assign in your profile preferences at any time. When enabled, every new conversation is automatically organized after it receives a title. When disabled, new conversations stay in the Unassigned folder until you manually move them to folders. This is a personal preference setting—each user can choose their own preference, even when working in the same workspace. Your setting works across all your workspaces.

The algorithm learns from your existing folder structure. It analyzes your folder names and the conversations within them to understand your organization system. The more conversations and folders you have, the more accurate the assignments become. Conversations are consistently placed in the expected folders, creating predictable organization that matches your workflow.

2. AI Reorganization

Click the "Reorganize workspace with AI" button in your header to intelligently reorganize all existing conversations with one click.

The "Reorganize workspace with AI" button is a powerful one-time action available in your workspace header, right next to "New chat" and "Search in workspace" buttons. It automatically analyzes and reorganizes all existing conversations, creating intelligent folders based on your conversation patterns. Use it when your workspace has become disorganized, when you want AI to suggest better organization, or after accumulating many unorganized conversations.

Click the button to trigger smart reorganization. AI analyzes every conversation in your workspace—reading titles, content, and patterns—then intelligently creates folders and distributes conversations.

The algorithm works from general to specific: if you have conversations about sports in general and several specifically about tennis, it will create a "Tennis" folder for the specific topic. If you have programming conversations about Python and React, it creates separate "Python" and "React" folders rather than a generic "Programming" folder. The AI recognizes specific topics, projects, and themes, creating focused folders for better organization.

The reorganization is smart about folder creation. It doesn't just move conversations into existing folders—it analyzes your conversation patterns and creates new folders where it makes sense. The algorithm identifies specific topics and creates dedicated folders, making it easier to find related conversations. The process runs in the background and shows progress as it works through your conversations.

This is different from auto-assign to folders—that feature automatically organizes new conversations as they're created using your existing folder structure, while AI reorganization is a manual action that analyzes all conversations and can create entirely new folder structures.

Use reorganization when you want a fresh, intelligent organization of your workspace, and enable auto-assign if you want ongoing automatic organization for new chats.
