Temporary Chats

Create one-time conversations that exist only in your current session without saving.

Perfect for quick questions and privacy-sensitive discussions. Create temporary chats that won't be saved to your workspace. When you start a new chat, click the temporary chat button in the header (dashed message icon) to enable temporary mode. Your conversation works normally—send messages, interact with AI models, and receive responses—but nothing gets saved to the database. The chat exists only in your browser's memory and disappears when you refresh the page, close your browser, or navigate away.

The temporary chat toggle appears in the chat header when you start a new conversation and auto-save is enabled. Click the button to switch between regular and temporary mode. When temporary mode is active, the button highlights to show you're in a temporary session. This gives you per-chat control—create temporary chats for sensitive topics while keeping your regular conversations saved.

For users who want all their chats to be ephemeral by default, you can disable auto-save globally in Settings > Data Management. When auto-save is disabled, every new chat becomes temporary automatically without needing to click the button. This setting persists across sessions, giving you full control over your conversation history and privacy.
